youth takeover

Friday 21st November is Youth Takeover Day. The day gives children and young people the chance to work with adults for the day and be involved in decision-making. Children benefit from the opportunity to experience the world of work and make their voices heard, while adults and organisations gain a fresh perspective on what they do.

Here's what happened when the young people visited Mix96 for Youth Takeover Day, they provided content for this page and also appeared on-air, reading news, travel and showbiz.

Have a listen to the result:

During the 6 weeks leading up and on Takeover Day 5 young people are recording and editing the Voice Of Youth Podcast. The podcast is all about real unscripted young people sharing their views, opinions, ideas and experiences on a variety of different topics from ebola to sex education to rubbish collection to swearing. They will also be interviewing people of influence in subjects of interest such as education and local area developments. Episodes of the podcast will be made available for the public to download for free. On Takeover Day itself the group will be podcasting, interviewing and taking over social media to promote their project. They will also be taking over the biggest radio station in Bucks Mix96, along with another group of young people from the Public Health Team’s Takeover Day Project.
